Faculty Position in School of Media
The School of Media at Mahindra University seeks a competent faculty member with the ability to teach and conduct research across a variety of subjects in one or more areas of media studies or communication management.
The School of Media is our fledgling institution, having been established in the autumn of 2023 with a vision to offer a judiciously triangulated approach of emerging technology, humanities and social sciences to generate thinking graduates with functional, conceptual and ethical competencies. The School currently offers three programmes—Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication (BJMC), Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Computation & Media, and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Media & Communication. In addition, the School plans to start a master’s programme in 2025, as well as other degrees, diplomas and certificate courses.
Job Description:
- The professor will teach across multiple programs, bringing experience both as a practitioner and an academic.
- A deep operational and critical understanding is required in at least a few of the following areas:
- Mass communication
- Digital Humanities and Media
- Emerging media technologies
- Animation filmmaking, VFX
- Advertising strategy
- Public relations, reputation management, strategic communication strategy
- Media and branding communication management
- Social and digital marketing management
- Courses emphasize both theoretical concepts and hands-on work, requiring faculty members to be proficient in both.
- The institution provides state-of-the-art studio and lab facilities for traditional, digital, and emerging production technologies.
- Faculty members are expected to engage global experts on campus, participate in scholarly events, and publish in top journals. Preferred candidates will have strong journal publication records and clear research plans. A portfolio showcasing expertise in both research and practice is highly valued.
- The ideal candidate will bridge theory and practice in the classroom, fostering conceptual, professional, and ethical competencies.
Required Qualifications:
- PhD from a reputed university and a few years of teaching experience at the undergraduate or postgraduate levels. For Professors of Practice, a PhD is preferred but not required; a master’s or terminal degree with 15+ years of professional experience is necessary.
