The Status of Child Rights in India

Considering her research work in adoption law and child rights, the Department of Women and Child Development, State of Telangana has appointed Dr. Rama Devi Gudemela as a Member of the Child Welfare Committee, Ranga Reddy District established under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. She emphasised that a Need-based approach and a Charity-based approach should be differentiated from the Rights-based approach to protect child rights in an online and offline webinar on 28th October. She also discussed the general principles of child protection against the abuses and vulnerability of non-discrimination, exploitation, family negligence & trauma, child prostitution, kidnapping, trafficking, child labour, child begging, privacy confidentiality etc., at home, school and community.
