Nilanjan Banik

Dr. Nilanjan Banik is currently a Professor of Economics and Finance at the School of Management, at Mahindra University. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Utah State University, USA and a Master of Economics from Delhi School of Economics, India. Prof. Banik works focuses on the application of time series econometrics in issues relating to international trade, market structure and development economics. His other area of work focuses on the `rules’ part of WTO; especially examining the non-tariff barriers aspect of GATT/WTO agreements. Presently, he is working in the area of India’s growth and development spatial nexus.

- Mr. Banik has contributed to an edited volume with leading publishers, like, Elsevier, Springer Verlag, Routledge, Hart Bloomsbury, Elsevier, etc. He has authored a book on the Indian macroeconomy which is published by Sage Publication Inc. This book featured in Amazon top 50 lists (under the Macroeconomic Book section and rated 4.4/5) between 2015 and 2019. He also has the distinction of writing editorials for all major English dailies in India, and abroad including that of Wall Street Journal, The Business Times, Infobae, and Huffington Post. He has written over 180 editorials.

- Mr. Banik has published in some of the leading academic journals (some of them A-rated in ABDC list) which include International Review of Economics and Finance, Empirical Economics, Review of Development Economics, Regional Statistics, Development Policy Review, Journal of World Trade, Asia Pacific Trade and Investment Review, Asian Development Bank Working Paper, Economic and Political Weekly, Foreign Trade Review, etc. One of his papers got Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence in 2016, and another paper got Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Information Technology and Quantitative Management (ITQM) 2017.
