Dr. Raja Rao Tripuraneni is a well-known Computer Scientist in Indian IT Industry and has developed Software Solutions in the domain of Scientific and Engineering Applications.With his specialization in Artificial Intelligence, he has guided the development of various Expert Systems in the fields of Remote Sensing and Image Recognition, Medical Imaging and Machine Vision.
Dr. Tripuraneni founded Computer Vision Laboratories (India) Pvt. Ltd. (VISIONLABS)in 1986, specializing in the general domain of Vision and Expert Systems and specifically in the fields of Geographic Information System (GIS), Land Information System (LIS), CAD/CAM, Computer Graphics, Computer Aided Instruction for Engineering students, Remote Sensing, Image Processing.
Dr. Tripuraneni’s technological associations include various Defence Organizations (for high-end turnkey simulator Systems, Electronic Warfare Systems), Govt. Organizations (GIS and Remote Sensing applications) Oil and Natural Gas Commission and Department of Mines and Geology (Well logs analysis, Seismic data analysis, Sub surface mineral sample analysis) and numerous private and public sector industries.

- Dr. Raja Rao has been active in industry as well as academic circles. He has formerly served as Professor of Computer Science at KL College of Engineering for a small stint and
- Worked as a Visiting Professor at Jawaharlal Nehru Technologcal University & Osmania University. Taught various courses including Artificial Intelligence, Computer Graphics, Computer Architecture, Logis and Switching Theory, to M.Tech. students of Osmania & JNTU. He guided several M.Tech. students for their Project works for the students at University of Hyderabad, Osmania University and of JNTU. He was an external examiner for Ph.D. students for the evaluation of their Ph.D. Theses.
- Member of Board of Studies for Electronics and Communication Engineering of Osmania University and for Computer Science Faculty of Kakatiya University. Member of Academic Council of QIS Institute of Technology, Ongole, a deemed University.
Awards
- He was awarded Nehru Gold Medal as the best allrounder student in his batch 1972 @ REC Warangal.
- During his Masters degree, he received National award for his paper, “Fuzzy Set Theory and It’s Applications” in the National Student Paper Contest held by IEEE.
- Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, awarded its first Ph.D. in Computer Science to Dr. Rao.
- Doordarshan Telugu Channel, సప్త$%, had telecast a Walk & Talk interview with Dr. Raja Rao, under the programme, &’త, where in eminent personalities were showcased and their Success Stories were highlighted.
- In recognition of pioneering work done, he has received a large number of awards including a Gold Medal for promotion of Indigenous indigenous technology development from H.E. Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma, the former President of India.
