About the Organisers
The International Mediation Conclave (IMC) 2024 is a landmark event in the field of mediation, organized by the School of Law, Mahindra University, Lex Erudites, India, and Grayspace Law & Policy Consulting, Belgium. It is scheduled to take place in Hyderabad from August 8th to 11th.
School of Law, Mahindra University : ‘Jnaanaarthe Pravesha, Sevaarthe Prasthana’ encapsulates the ethos of entering an institution for knowledge and exiting to serve society. The Mahindra University’s School of Law (MU SOL), established in September 2021 in Hyderabad, embodies this philosophy with a focus on justice, equality, and service. MU SOL offers integrated undergraduate programs like BA. LL.B (Hons) and BBA. LL.B (Hons) alongside a 3-Year LL.B (Hons) program, guided by a distinguished faculty. In line with its commitment to research, MU SOL is creating two Research Centres: CADML and TMCACL, with plans for additional programs including B. Tech LL.B(Hons), LLM in Tech Laws, and a Ph.D. in Law across various domains.
Lex Erudites, India : Lex Erudites is a humble initiative guided by its primary vision- to provide a distinguished platform for socio-legal discourse and scholarship. As an e-journal, our purpose is to advance legal knowledge across international borders. Since 2021, Lex Erudites has been hosting its annual International Mediation Competition under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Bryan Clark, attracting substantial participation from over 90 universities globally and featuring a diverse panel of adjudicators. Our initiative holds recognition from the Razorpay Rize Program and collaborates with the S.L.A.T.E program (Sustainability, Leadership & Agency Through Education), which currently supports 12,000 students. Lex Erudites remains dedicated to championing the spirit of legal education and international dialogue.
Grayspace Law and Policy Consulting : Grayspace, a law and policy consultancy firm based in Belgium, focuses on legal and advocacy matters in the European Union (EU). We assist companies (early-stage companies, start-ups, scale-ups and entrepreneurs) in navigating through the legal and policy issues necessary for your business. Mediation is certainly a tool we consider when resolving disputes, and our approach continuous to be that dispute resolution be considered at the outset of negotiations. At Grayspace, we have helped our clients, both corporate and individual, resolve disputes quickly and cost-effectively through direct negotiation and formal mediation processes. Our dispute resolution advisory, compliance and litigation services extend to Europe and international markets in the family, real estate, and vertical sectors, i.e. transportation (air, space, road and maritime), trade and technology.
The conclave will bring together a diverse group of dispute resolution professionals, judges, academicians, and students from around the world. The event will be conducted in a hybrid format, allowing both in-person and online participation. The Conclave aims to equip aspiring mediators with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate conflicts and achieve amicable resolutions. Scheduled to take place in Hyderabad from August 8th to 11th, 2024, this event is the first of its kind to focus exclusively on mediation. The Conclave will feature a comprehensive program that includes workshops, a conference, a mediation competition, and an International Mediation Essay Competition.
Workshop (August 8, 2024) : The workshop will provide a deep dive into the skills and techniques essential for effective mediation. Participants will engage in interactive sessions designed to enhance their understanding of mediation processes. Additionally, the workshop will offer insights into career opportunities in mediation, making it a valuable experience for those considering a future in this field.
Conference (August 9, 2024) : The conference will feature panel discussions and interactive sessions focused on the practical aspects of mediation. Topics to be covered include:
- Mediation Act of 2023 : Will the ADR Movement Pick up in India?
- Beyond Borders : International Mediation Practices and the Impact of the Singapore Convention on Mediation
- The Rise of Commercial Mediation : Effectiveness and Suitability
- Mediation in the Digital Age : Online Mediation Prospects and Challenges
- The Big Question : Mediation as a Mainstream Choice for Resolving Conflicts
Experts and practitioners from various sectors will provide valuable insights into key mediation techniques and address industry-specific issues.
International Student Mediation Competition (August 10-11, 2024) : This flagship event will offer law students from around the world an opportunity to demonstrate their mediation skills in a dynamic and challenging environment. The competition, held in a hybrid format with mandatory in-person participation for Indian teams, aims to foster talent, promote innovative mediation approaches, and encourage cross-cultural dialogue. The competition will consist of co-mediated sessions based on different scenarios, with each team comprising a mediator, client, and counsel. Winners will receive cash prizes totalling INR 1,00,000.
International Mediation Essay Competition : Participants are invited to submit essays on mediation-related topics. Selected essays will be published in a book, and winners will be awarded cash prizes worth INR 1,00,000. Submission guidelines are available on the official website- imc24 essay competition.
The International Mediation Conclave :
- Is open to all enthusiasts in the field of mediation.
The International Mediation Essay Competition :
- accepts essay from all those who are interested in the field of mediation.
The International Student Mediation Competition:
- Is open to all full time and part-time students of law.
- Students who are perusing a post-Graduate degree, diploma or a certificate course are not eligible for the same.
- Cross-Institute team shall not be eligible to participate in the competition.
- A single team per institute shall be allowed to register for the same. Kindly refer the rules and regulations of the competition-

*The International Student Mediation competition shall entertain :
- Offline participation of Indian teams (Mandatory), and,
- Hybrid (online or offline) participation of international teams.
