Jal Shakti Abhiyan – Catch the Rain 2022
Mahindra University is dedicated to fostering a sustainable future by conserving precious water and energy resources. Our proactive approach to water management includes efficient water usage, rainwater harvesting, and wastewater recycling. By minimizing water consumption and maximizing water reuse, we aim to reduce our ecological footprint and protect our planet’s delicate balance.
By choosing sustainability, we are not only preserving our environment but also inspiring future generations to embrace eco-conscious practices. Thereby promoting a green campus and reusing and recycling water by using it to water plants and trees.
Following the footsteps of the Government of India’s Jal Shakti Abhiyan, it is dedicated to ensuring the water security of our country to protect lives and livelihood with its theme for the year 2022 being “Catch the Rain, where it falls, when it falls’, and accordingly all the recommendations as laid down in the UGC letter No. 2-19/2022(CPP-II) dated 25.03.2022 as given below are being implemented under the following subheads:
- Water conservation and rainwater harvesting plan
- Renovation of traditional and other water bodies/tanks
- Reuse, borewell recharge structures
- Watershed development
Further, the campaign has been given wide publicity and accordingly the letter of UGC in this regard has been placed on the website of Mahindra University, Hyderabad.
