IMSE has announced the launch of the Master of Arts (MA) in Education programme from the Fall 2023 academic session. This two-year, full-time programme is designed to take students through a process of learning unfolding through discussions, close readings, group projects, and participation in academic activities within and outside the school. The programme offers an in-depth knowledge of the complexities of the education sector, closely familiarise them with practice orientation, and introduce them to the classics as well as updated research. The skills acquired in the Master’s programme can be useful in the development sector, think tanks, government employment, and academia.

Ph.D. in Education is an excellent endeavour of the department of education. Being a university dedicated to the ever-changing needs of society, it imparts excellent knowledge through its teaching. This course has a broader scope for doctoral students to undertake descriptive and experimental studies and investigate some crucial problems in education. It suggests suitable remedies and contributes to various academic and administrative practices. It also initiates multiple innovative strategies and methods to improve teaching-learning practices.

The Ph.D. students have to educate themselves through prescribed coursework in the first year. After that, they have to do intense research work, which involves comprehensive examination and research under a Ph.D. adviser. Finally, to earn a Ph.D. degree, the students have to go through phases that involve preparation, facing challenges and difficulties and the final thesis defense. To complete a thesis may take around 3 years.
